Meet your interim partner in career services: Jacki Banks
I’ve spent over 15 years working in career coaching and experiential education, helping students explore their interests, reflect on their strengths, and make thoughtful choices about college, majors, internships, and early career paths.
While my journey has taken me around the world, including living in Bosnia and England, I found my professional home at Georgetown University. There, I led undergraduate employer relations, partnering with industry advisors across a wide range of fields. This experience gave me a solid understanding of employer expectations and how students can effectively translate their experiences into meaningful opportunities.
My work has been influenced by the values of Jesuit education, particularly discernment, reflection, and cura personalis (care for the whole person). These principles shape how I approach both student advising and institutional partnerships.
I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and am a licensed graduate social worker in Washington, DC. I am also an active member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and have completed both the NACE Career Coaching Institute and GCDF training.
At the heart of my work is this belief: career decisions are most meaningful and effective when they align with a student’s values, interests, personality, skills, and sense of purpose. Through College to Career, I help career centers deliver purposeful, student-centered support.
